DISTRICT SCHOLARSHIPSVasa Order of America • Pennsylvania District No. 9District Lodge Pennsylvania No. 9 is offering its annual YOUTH Language Camp Scholarship to Concordia's Swedish Language Village for summer 2025
It is open to all youth members and children or grandchildren of adult members of district 9 lodges between the ages of 8 and 18. The sponsoring Vasa member must have been a member for two years as of the application deadline. Two weeks of full linguistic and cultural immersion in a Minnesota lakeside accommodation, built to emulate a Swedish fishing village, has been a great experience for all of our past recipients, many of whom have returned as repeat campers or even counsellors. Concordia Language Villages is offering two separate two-week immersion camp sessions with full room and board. The first session runs 7/14/25-7/26/25 for ages 8-14 and the second session runs 7/28/25-8/9/25 for ages 11-18. District #9, with a grant from Nobel-Monitor, is offering to pay this entire tuition for one 2-week camp session, OR a portion of the 4-week option High School Credit option for Ages 13-18 (7/14-8/9/2025) for a total of $2,695. This tuition will be paid directly to Concordia Language Villages. In addition, with receipts, we will reimburse the successful candidate up to $300 toward travel expenses. Interested applicants are advised to visit www.concordialanguagevillages.org for updates and further information including any additional experiences on offer. The application form has a list of additional information required from each applicant. The application should be printed and scanned (PDF or JPEG) and sent via email to the Scholarship Committee Chair, Marit Knollmueller at mrk20901@gmail.com with any supporting materials by Saturday, February 15, 2025. You will be notified of the committee’s decision within a week. Note that the Vasa Grand Lodge also offers youth scholarships to the second session of this camp for ages 12-18 with a similar deadline. Visit their website for details and to download their application Youth scholarship awardees should present a report to the local or district lodge about what was learned / accomplished.
